Celebrating the results of our first Open Call
CORTEX2 has provided us with a strong foundation for spatial, land-based planning, adaptable for various future use cases. By leveraging Rainbow’s advanced communication tools, we have integrated seamless, real-time, multi-user conferencing to support collaborative urban planning. The platform also enables high-resolution XR visualisations, delivering immersive 3D city visuals with unmatched clarity and facilitating precise, collaborative planning experiences for multiple stakeholders. Additionally, access to technical components such as 3D reconstruction and virtual assistants has accelerated our development, streamlining prototyping and helping us implement and refine key functionalities more efficiently.
The most impactful component of the CORTEX2 Support Programme was the Rainbow Unity SDK, which evolved significantly from version 2 to 3 during our project. It enabled seamless audio/video calling and screen sharing directly inside XR, transforming SCIPLANT from a standalone urban planning tool into a truly collaborative, multi-user experience. This integration unlocked the use of COVA and the meeting summarization tool, allowing real-time voice navigation and structured feedback capture — key to making SCIPLANT a participatory planning solution, not just a visual one.
