AgriVision’s progress on the CORTEX2 Programme
Q: How would you summarise the advances AgriVision has made during Phase 2 of the CORTEX2 Support Programme?
A: The AgriVision team successfully developed and distributed a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), including a light (mobile) version and a professional (with incorporation of the AR/XR components) version, meeting the requirements of the CORTEX2 Programme and incorporating insights from our mentoring sessions.
Q: What has AgriVision achieved now that the Programme is complete?
A: Upon completion of the CORTEX2 Support Programme, AgriVision successfully deployed an MVP, integrating XR, farm management information systems (FMIS), and CORTEX2 components. Using those in both light and professional versions, the solution enhanced precision agriculture for crops like wheat and cotton. Furthermore, it achieved robust technical reliability and sociological impact by empowering farmers with intuitive tools.
Economic impact can be achieved through optimised resource use, while benefits could also result from sustainable practices. User satisfaction confirmed high usability and acceptance, with the Light version excelling in accessibility and the Pro version offering innovative XR visualisations.
Q: What would you highlight about the Support Programme, what’s helped advance your solution the most?
A: The CORTEX2 Support Programme significantly advanced AgriVision through tailored mentoring and provision of technical components, enabling the development of the MVP. Insights from mentoring sessions enhanced the integration of XR, FMIS, and CORTEX2 components, notably the Rainbow platform and virtual assistant, improving farmer-consultant collaboration. Real-world pilot testing with over 20 users provided critical feedback and a satisfaction study, validating usability and highlighting areas for improvement.
Q: What’s the status of AgriVision after completing the Programme? What are your next steps?
A: AgriVision has completed its pilot phases under the CORTEX2 Support Programme, with the Light (mobile) and Pro (XR) versions developed and evaluated. Feedback from the limited rollout highlighted strengths and areas for improvement. The solution is now a step closer to commercial rollout.
Next steps include creating onboarding materials to simplify adoption, especially for the Pro version’s XR interface; refining Growing Degree Days algorithms; and planning iterative updates for enhanced functionality and accessibility.
